Lighting up the future of rural Lebanon – 200W solar LED street light project successfully landed

This is not only an infrastructure upgrade project, but also a model project that takes into account sustainable development and improvement of people’s livelihood.

1. Project background: Current situation of rural lighting that needs to be improved

Many remote villages in Lebanon have long faced the problem of insufficient power supply. The streets are dim at night and there are serious safety hazards. This not only affects the normal travel and social activities of residents at night, but also restricts the development of local commercial activities and infrastructure. After many field visits and communications with the village committee, we deeply understand that local residents have an urgent need for “stable, energy-saving, and long-term available” lighting.

After comprehensively evaluating factors such as geographical conditions, sunshine duration, grid access difficulties, and maintenance costs, we decided to introduce a 200W integrated solar LED street light solution for the area to achieve the goal of “green energy, zero electricity bills, rapid deployment, and long-term stability”.

2. Solution: 200W LED solar street light system

The 200W solar LED street light we selected adopts an integrated design, integrating high-efficiency solar panels, lithium iron phosphate batteries, high-brightness LED light sources and intelligent control systems, and has the following core advantages:

High brightness output: using 3030 lamp beads, the whole lamp light effect ≥150lm/W, wide coverage, good color rendering;

High energy conversion efficiency: monocrystalline silicon solar panels, conversion rate can reach 22%, fast charging;

High-capacity energy storage battery: equipped with 3.2V lithium iron phosphate batteries, safe and stable, long cycle life, continuous rainy days can still illuminate 2-3 days;

Intelligent control technology: built-in radar sensing and light control system, automatically turn on and off the lights and adjust the brightness, effectively saving energy;

Quick installation, no wiring required: the integrated design is suitable for areas without grid coverage, reducing construction period and labor costs;

IP66 protection level: waterproof and dustproof, adapt to Lebanon mountainous and coastal areas and other diverse climate environments

3. Project implementation process: efficient delivery, strict quality control

The project was officially launched in June. We formed a project team consisting of 10 technical engineers, 3 quality supervisors and 15 installers. The project cycle was 15 days, and all installation and commissioning tasks were actually completed 2 days ahead of schedule. During the construction process, we focused on the following key nodes:

Preliminary site selection: Through drone aerial survey and resident flow analysis, priority was given to covering the main roads at the entrance of the village, residential concentrated areas, school surroundings, mosque entrances and public squares;

Infrastructure: To ensure wind resistance, the lamp poles are hot-dip galvanized, and the embedded parts are reinforced and poured with C25 concrete foundations;

Standardized installation: All lamps are installed on 6-meter-high lamp poles to ensure the best irradiation angle and uniformity of light;

On-site testing: After completion, the brightness, induction sensitivity, and system charging and discharging stability of each lamp were tested;

Village committee acceptance: Through on-site illumination evaluation and residents’ feedback satisfaction survey, the acceptance pass rate was 100%

IV. Results display: Photos witness changes
It can be clearly seen from the on-site photos after the project was completed that the entire area has achieved “no dark corners, no dead corners” comprehensive lighting at night:

📍Rural residential area: The lights in front of each household are clear, which improves the sense of living security;

📍Streets and alleys: Vehicles pass and crowds gather in areas as bright as day;

📍Square activity area: Children play safely, and villagers gather more frequently at night;

📍Religious places: The entrance of the mosque is brightly lit, creating a solemn atmosphere;

These photos not only show the brightness and coverage of street lights, but also reflect the direct effectiveness of the project in improving basic living conditions.

V. Social and environmental significance: more than just “lighting”

The use of this batch of solar street lights brings far more than just “lighting”:

Improve residents’ safety: effectively curb safety hazards such as night theft and traffic accidents;

Promote the night economy: the number of small vendors and stalls in the lighting area has increased significantly;

Reduce carbon emissions: the whole system has zero electricity bills and zero pollution, and the annual reduction in carbon emissions is expected to exceed 25 tons;

Enhance community cohesion: the square lights gather popularity and promote neighborhood exchanges;

Enhance government credibility: villagers are extremely satisfied with the project, and the government has won the hearts and trust of the people.

As a typical green infrastructure project, it not only promotes energy upgrades in remote villages in Lebanon, but also provides a successful case for new energy cooperation in the Middle East under the “Belt and Road” initiative.

VI. Conclusion: It illuminates not only the night, but also hope

Behind the lighting of each solar street light are the efforts of dozens of engineers, the coordination of hundreds of kilometers of transportation, and the splicing of thousands of parts. They have witnessed our persistence in quality and practice of sustainable development, and also witnessed the transformation of a village from darkness to light.

In the future, we will continue to promote efficient, stable and intelligent green lighting systems to more areas in need, bringing peace of mind and hope to more families.
